A practical and informative self-help guide, helping you rewire restrictive cognitions and work through recovery. 

Overcoming Anorexia Nervosa - Christopher Freeman 

A CBT-informed self-help manual for anorexia. A good place to start if you can't access treatment at the moment. 

The Reading Cure - Laura Freeman

A beautifully written memoir of how books helped Laura fall in love with food again after struggling for many years with anorexia. 

Life Without Ed - Jenni Schaeffer 

A guide to separating yourself from your eating disorder, based on Jenni's personal experience of recovery. 

8 Keys to Recovery from an Eating Disorder - Costin & Grabb 

Strategies for overcoming an eating disorder, written by two practitioners who also have experience of eating disorders.  

Recovering from Anorexia: How and Why to Start - Emily Troscianko

An informative and motivating article for those early on in their recovery. If you feel like you might be stuck in half-recovery, she also has a useful piece on 'how and why not to stop halfway'.

Break the Cycle - Eating Disorders Association N.I

A self-help booklet to help you understand the binge eating cycle and work through recovery. You can find the whole thing here.

What Goes Down - Callie Bowld 

A memoir of a woman's experience of restriction, bulimia and binge-eating, and her journey to recovery. Read with caution if descriptions of behaviours is something you find triggering.

Just Eat It - Laura Thomas

A wonderful introduction to intuitive eating, dispelling diet culture myths and helping you heal your relationship with food.

 

Eat Up! Food, Appetite and Eating What You Want - Ruby Tandoh

A lovely book about rediscovering the joy in food and disentangling food from the web of guilt/shame/diet culture.
